UNTOLD STORIES

Everyday, we get to know more and more people, and
we always have the intention to know everything about them.
What about the people who we are willing to know more about
but we lost them?

They became a memory, a story in a diary, a flashback we get
every now and then. Can we really get a clear image of
them even after they’re gone?
Is finding answers for our questions impossible?
Can we depend on our memory only to know more?

These questions are in my mind everyday
especially after losing her..
my grandmother.

Doreya Shawkat,
the wife of Ali Diab, had two daughters and three
granddaughters. She was born on the 7th of May in
1932, in Cairo, Egypt. She was the first daughter and
the fourth child. She had two sisters and three brothers.
She used to work at the same place her husband did,
and they got to know each other there.

As a grandma, I remember how funny she was. She
always had a smile on her face, and used to play cards
with me everytime I visited; It was our game back then.
As a child, I was different; I always preferred to spend
my time with my gramma more than going out with my
friends.

To know more.
To shed light onto the unknown.
To collect pieces to finish the puzzle.
This project is about trying to know someone who has
been gone through building a clear image about their
life based on reality and imagination.
